
This month’s newsletter focuses on the ACA’s pre-budget recommendations before the Provincial government releases the 2026 budget, as discussions on what to expect in the coming Spring session of the Alberta Legislature.
ACA’s Key Pre-budget Priorities
In the midst of waiting for the provincial government to release the annual budget, the ACA has released several key recommendations to ensure that the priorities of Alberta’s construction industry and its members are met.
Jen Hancock, chair of the ACA, said of the budget, “Budget 2026 is a critical opportunity to ensure Alberta has the skilled workforce and planning certainty needed to deliver essential infrastructure”.
Highlights of our pre-budget recommendations:
- Strengthening Workforce Capacity and focusing on solutions in order to accelerate entry into the skilled trades.
- Capital investment certainty.
- Procurement and regional participation.
Spring Legislative Session: What To Expect
The Spring sitting of the Alberta Legislature is set to resume on February 24, 2026. In addition to budgetary discussions this Spring, the ACA expects a few initiatives to be taken that concern the construction industry such as:
- Infrastructure delivery and approvals.
- Alberta Rail master plan.
- Traffic Safety Act modernization.
While the ACA plans to review the upcoming Legislative Session, our ongoing message is that of a policy environment that supports certainty, capacity and competitiveness.
