About Us / Who We Are
Who We Are
The Alberta Construction Association (ACA) is a not-for-profit association that has been the provincial voice of Alberta’s construction industry since 1959.
We are composed of eight Local Construction Associations (LCAs) from across the province, who form our core membership and represent thousands of construction companies in their respective regions. Through these LCAs and our associate member organizations, ACA represents more than 3,000 companies in Alberta’s institutional, commercial, and industrial construction sectors.
Our Mandate
- Represents the collective voice for Alberta’s construction industry.
- Develops standard industry practices, including procurement, payment, safety and more.
- Promotes a highly skilled workforce.
Â
Our mandate is to bring Alberta’s construction community together, coordinating contractors, suppliers, trades, and industry partners, to speak with one collective voice. We advance standard industry practices, advocate for a skilled and sustainable workforce, and drive solutions that support a competitive, resilient construction sector.
Â
ACA works in close partnership with LCAs and with our national counterpart, the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). LCAs are the hands-on connection to member companies in each region, providing local services, advocacy, education, and networking. ACA takes the issues raised by LCAs and their members to the provincial level, acting as a direct conduit between government and industry. Where appropriate, we also work with the CCA to ensure Alberta’s priorities are represented at the national level.
Our Mission
We unify Alberta’s construction industry, foster collaboration, support our Local Construction Association members, and advocate for policies that drive growth and long-term industry sustainability.
Our Vision
To be the leading and trusted provincial voice of Alberta’s construction industry.
Strategic Priorities
Our 2025–2028 Strategic Plan focuses efforts on what matters most to our members and the wider industry: Prioritizing our advocacy efforts and building upon our legacy of being the collective voice of Alberta’s construction industry.
Advocating for the Industry at the Provincial & Federal Levels
We are committed to advancing Alberta’s construction industry by aligning with local associations and amplifying their efforts. We focus on positively influencing policies and practices to benefit the industry and our members.
Industry Excellence
We support the industry’s long-term excellence by advocating for best practices around safety, productivity, and sustainability, ensuring that its members have access to a skilled labour force, professional development, and training opportunities.
Serving Members and Growing for the Future
Our Commitment To Members
Our advocacy is proudly non-partisan. We collaborate with government and non-government partners across the spectrum, seeking solutions that benefit the whole industry, regardless of labour affiliation or political party. This approach helps member organizations identify their priorities, work with ACA, LCAs, and CCA to raise awareness, and achieve results. When members bring us their issues, we apply our collective resources to understand the problem, find solutions, and be a catalyst for action, positive change, and continuous improvement.
