ACA Wildfire Preparedness Information Guide

As wildfire season begins, preparation and awareness are critical for construction sites and crews working across the province.

The ACA’s Wildfire Preparedness Information Guide is a resource developed in order to support workers and contractors in their planning for wildfire risks and maintaining safe operations. We recommend taking several steps to ensure sites and their workers are well-versed in actions that need to be taken.

Here are some highlights of our Wildfire Preparedness Information Guide:

Preseason Planning:

  • Review and update your Fire Safety Plan regularly, every 4 months minimum.
  • Review Emergency Response Procedures with all workers.
  • Conduct at least one fire drill.

Go-Bag Essentials:

  • Government-issued ID
  • Cellphone
  • Flashlight and batteries
  • Snacks and water
  • Prescription medication
  • Extra clothing
  • Maps and contacts
  • Protective masks

Vehicle Preparation:

  • First aid kit
  • Gas tank at least half full
  • Know your evacuation route

We encourage industry members to review and share our full guide to help ensure Alberta worksites remain safe and resilient during the wildfire season.
