The Alberta Construction Association (ACA) was proud to host its 2025 Annual General Meeting, a pivotal event that brought together industry leaders, government representatives, and members from across the province to reflect, connect, and chart a path forward for Alberta’s construction sector.
We were especially honoured to welcome the Honourable Martin Long, Minister of Infrastructure, as a guest speaker at this year’s AGM. Minister Long shared an inspiring vision for Alberta’s construction industry—one that emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a strengthened relationship between government and industry. His remarks underscored the critical role that the construction sector plays in Alberta’s growth and prosperity.
ACA believes that meaningful engagement with the government is essential. By working closely with leaders like Minister Long and his team, we can better advocate for policies and investments that benefit our members and all Albertans. We thank the Minister for his time and insights, and we look forward to deepening our partnership with his Ministry in the months and years ahead.

Connecting with Alberta’s Deputy Ministers
As part of our AGM, the ACA also hosted a roundtable discussion with Alberta’s Deputy Ministers. This important meeting focused on several key issues facing our industry, including contracts and procurement processes, workforce development strategies, and the need for sustainable and predictable infrastructure funding.
We found the session to be highly constructive, offering a valuable opportunity for stakeholders from across local and affiliated associations to share their insights and experiences directly with senior government leaders. These types of open, solution-focused discussions are vital in fostering stronger partnerships and shaping effective policies that support both industry and public interests.
Our sincere thanks go out to the Deputy Ministers for dedicating their time and for engaging in open, meaningful dialogue with our Board and members. We greatly appreciate their willingness to listen, collaborate, and help us move our industry forward.

National Perspectives from Rod Gilbert and the CCA

We were also privileged to hear from Rod Gilbert, President of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). Rod provided a national perspective, highlighting the CCA’s recent outreach efforts and the pressing issues facing the construction industry across Canada. From navigating tariffs to adapting to shifts in political leadership and preparing for the upcoming election, the CCA has remained steadfast in its mission. Rod spoke about the importance of continued advocacy for national infrastructure policies that promote economic opportunity and support Canada’s dynamic growth. We thank Rod and the CCA for their continued leadership and for joining us at the AGM to engage directly with our Board and members.
