ACA June Construction Industry Statistics Package

The ACA’s monthly Industry Statistics Package is an inside look at key numbers detailing the important statistics within the construction industry that drive our province forward. Our statistics package acts as a valuable resource for all members of Alberta’s construction industry including workforce members, employers, and local associations. The latest edition highlights key metrics directly from Alberta’s construction industry, including the value of proposed projects, the number of construction employees, and the expected number of construction worker retirements by 2034.

June saw several changes to key statistics since the release of our last package, specifically increases in multiple important categories, namely:

  • The average weekly wages of full-time construction workers rose from $1,722 to $1,756.
  • The number of females within the construction workforce increased from 39,140 to 42, 500.
  • Despite a 2.8% decrease year by year, the overall number of construction employees in Alberta has risen from 252,100 to 268,100.

The value of proposed construction projects has remained mostly the same since last month, with a slight decrease in value going from $244.9B to $244.8B according to Alberta Major Projects.

The value of building permits has stayed roughly the same since last month, at $1.6 billion.

Alberta’s construction industry continues to play a key role in the prosperity of Alberta by driving growth, economic investment, and employment across hundreds of sectors within the skilled trades.
