This month, the ACA met several ministers at the Legislature Building during our Legislature Day, and we focused on the work of The President of the Canadian Construction Association, Rodrigue Gilbert.
May was a month of discussion, collaboration, and conversation amongst elected officials and industry leaders alike. The ACA spent this month fostering connections in order to ensure a dialogue was had amongst the industry’s most important actors, as well as advancing steps we are taking to build the future Alberta workforce. Newsletter highlights include:
- The ACA along with two of our partner organizations – the Edmonton Construction Association and the Calgary construction association, participated in a day of idea exchange and advocacy at the Alberta Legislature Building. This included meeting with several provincial ministers and senior government officials to discuss the most important issues to the industry such as risk management practices, the impact of international tariffs on construction materials, implementation of prompt payment legislation, workforce development initiatives and strategies to address labour shortages and immigration.
- Words from Rodrigue Gilbert, the President of the Canadian Construction Association. He spoke to the ACA about industry unification through “Construction For Canadians”, a national election campaign that highlights the critical role construction plays for Canada’s future.
- Lastly, the ACA discussed our upcoming event where we, in association with Built Environment Edmonton, explore ideas relating to the modern construction industry and where the future can take us. The event will feature industry networking, workforce development insights, training opportunities, and guest speakers.
